Promo codes at Roots are designed to help you get more value when you invest. There are two main types of promos, and they can often be used together.
1. Discount Promos (Rewards)
These promos reduce the amount you pay out of pocket while still allowing you to invest the full amount.
Example:
- You choose to invest $100 You apply a $50 discount promo You only pay $50, but $100 is invested into the fund. The investment amount you choose must be equal to or greater than the reward you’re applying.
2. Investment Boost Promos
These promos add free money to your investment.
Example:
- You invest $100 You apply a $25 boost promo You pay $100, but $125 is invested into the fund.
Using Multiple Promos
You can use multiple promos at the same time, as long as they’re eligible. Discount promos and boost promos can often be combined in a single investment.
Your own invested funds follow the standard rules:
- Each investment has a 12-month holding period You can cash out earlier, but an early withdrawal penalty applies.
Promo funds work differently:
- Promo/Rewards units must remain invested for 12 months to be redeemed penalty-free.
- If you cash out before 12 months, the promo/reward portion is forfeited.
Where to Find Your Promos
Your available promos are stored in your Promo Bank, which you can access:
- From the My Investments tab under Rewards History
- During checkout by clicking “Add Promo”
How to Use a Promo Code
When you’re ready to invest:
- Go to the checkout screen.
- Click Add Promo.
- Enter your promo code or select one from your available promos.
- Click Apply to add it to your investment.
